How to Eat Safely at a Restaurant Today?

Once lockdown has been lifted, and public spaces including restaurants have reopened again, people are finally out trying to cope with the new normal world. However, despite the health standards and trying to create the safest space for customers, public places, including restaurants are still risky and more likely to spread the virus more.

We missed dining at our favorite places and the freedom we once had before Covid-19 messed our life up, but is it worth risking your life for a meal? When you are at a restaurant, you won’t be wearing a mask while eating, nor will your friends. Also, you’ll be probably sitting very near the people you’re going out with; that means you won’t be able to maintain social distancing and wearing a facemask while dining at a restaurant.

So what is the safest way to eat in a restaurant?

Sit outside

Enjoy the beautiful weather outside and choose to eat outdoors instead of indoor seating area, because the open space provides a cleaner air and reduces the risks of getting exposed to a polluted air due to closed space area.

Avoid touching your face

Try to avoid touching your face, eyes, nose, and mouth as much as you can. Touching common surfaces, such as a table, the chair, or any other surface in a restaurant, can increase the chance of catching the virus later. Note that wearing gloves will not protect you from germs, instead be very careful not to touch your face unconsciously, while you are dining outside.

Keep it clean

Keeping your hands clean while moving around the restaurant, whether before or after food, is very important. Make sure to wash your hands, especially after using the toilets, and be sure to dry your hands with paper towels and open the door with your elbow after that.

Also, clean the devices you touch them after use, when you’re outside, such as money, credit card when paying the bill, your phone after using it… This will help a lot in preventing the spread of germs and you certainly don’t want to take the virus home with you!

Go out with trusted people

Social gatherings are not the same anymore; you can’t just hang out with everybody. It’s okay if you miss your friends after lockdown, however it is still safer to go out with people you live with whether your parents, siblings or roommate, or even people you trust and 100 percent sure that they are limiting their outings and respecting measures. However, the more your circle is limited the less the risk of virus transmission would be.
