Back in the 1980’s, bubble skirts were popular through drop waist and puffed hemlines featured on runways by designers like Yves Saint Laurent and worn by many popular figures such as Princess Diana.
This trend made a comeback later, in the 2010’s and was worn along with belted jackets and bandage dresses by Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande and others.
Since the fashion industry, nowadays, digs up the fashion archives, bubbly skirts are back in as designers have been fully backing up this trend in their shows on the runways with a much more elevated approach. In fact, these designers decided to push the puffiness out of the picture, going for less inflated cuts. Featured on both mini and maxi skirts, giving a playful, youthful effect; this trend was recycled lately by designers like Antonio Marras, Allina Liu, and Ulla Johnson.
For styling, take cues from celebrities who have recently adopted this look or from some of these influencers we chose for you and who mastered the art of styling a bubble skirt, pairing it with crop-tops, sweaters and even blazers along with a belt around the waist for a more feminine silhouette.
You can also style your bubble skirt with high heels, knee boots or even ballerinas. Check out our article En Pointe Elegance: Embracing the Ballerina Trend This Season for different ways to style ballerinas with your outfit.
Mini skirts come in different lengths: mini, midi and maxi and now that the sun is out, burst your bubble with this light and fluffy skirt.
