After Liliane Bettencourt, This is the World’s Richest Woman
But there’s a catch…
28-September-2017
Earlier this week, the richest woman in the world, Liliane Bettencourt, died at 94. The L’Oreal heiress’s personal estate was worth about $42.5 billion.
Now that she’s no longer with us, it was announced on Thursday that the wealthiest woman is Alice Walton, one of the heirs to the Walmart fortune, with a net worth of more than $38 billion.
Unfortunately, she didn’t get to enjoy her brief moment of glory for long. The next day, it was Bettencourt's daughter, Françoise Bettencourt-Meyers, who became richest woman in the world. Her net worth had hit the roof following her mother’s death, and it now about $42.3 billion.
What a strange turn of events!
