It's a new page in fashion history that's turning. On January 17, Jean-Paul Gaultier announced the end of his Haute Couture fashion shows in a short press release. “On January 22, 2020, I will celebrate my 50th career in fashion with a major Haute Couture fashion show at the Théâtre du Châtelet. It will also be my last show,” said the French designer. Does this decision announce the end of the iconic house? "Rest assured, Haute Couture will continue with a new concept which will be revealed to you soon," he slips at the end of the press release.
In recent years, the French designer seemed to be taking a new turn in fashion. In 2014, he announced that he would end his men's and women's ready-to-wear lines. At the time, he was explaining his decision to the business of Fashion, saying that "fashion has changed" and that "too many clothes are killing the clothes."
