A New Mary Poppins Movie in 2018

Yes, the rumors are true. Mary Poppins returns! A teaser trailer for the upcoming remake was released by Walt Disney Studios who will be producing the sequel, and we can’t begin to describe our excitement. Here is what they wrote in the caption: “Emily Blunt is Mary Poppins in the upcoming sequel, #MaryPoppinsReturns. The brand new film opens in theatres December 2018. #D23Expo”.
Blunt continues the legacy of Julie Andrews who was the original Mary Poppins in 1964. As said in the caption, this is not a remake but rather a sequel. According to Variety, Jane and Michael Banks are now adults and have children of their own, and we can guess who will be Poppins’s next target. However, the cast isn’t all new, since Dick Van Dyke will be playing his original character, Burt (yes, he’s the ‘chim-chimney’ guy). The movie will also be featuring Meryl Streep, Emily Mortimer and Colin Firth as the supporting roles.
