Hollywood’s biggest names gathered in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 17, for the sixth annual Academy Museum Gala, an evening where cinema, fashion and music came together in celebration of the art of filmmaking. With more than $14 million raised to support the museum’s exhibitions, educational initiatives and public programmes, the event once again proved that its significance extends well beyond the red carpet.

Held in partnership with Rolex, the black-tie affair was co-chaired by Tom Ford, Steven Spielberg, Robert Rodriguez and Kate Capshaw, welcoming an impressive mix of established screen legends, rising stars and influential figures from the worlds of fashion and entertainment.

Among the evening’s most recognisable faces were Sofia Vergara, Hailey Bieber, Ana de Armas, Jacob Elordi, Sabrina Carpenter, Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Elle Fanning and Sabrina Carpenter.

Pamela Anderson, Demi Moore, Colin Farrell and Pierce Brosnan brought a touch of old Hollywood glamour, while celebrities like Rosé and Connor Storrie represented a younger generation shaping contemporary pop culture.

Kim Kardashian made a vintage fashion statement in an archival Balenciaga creation, while Sarah Paulson arrived in a custom Ferragamo look alongside the house’s creative director, Maximilian Davis.

Yet, as the evening unfolded, it was Taylor Swift who delivered one of its most anticipated moments. Introduced by comedian Conan O’Brien, the singer took to the stage for an exclusive performance that brought the star-studded gathering to a memorable close. Her set featured some of her best-known songs, including Blank Space and Love Story, alongside The Fate of Ophelia, which received its live debut.

Swift also made an impression on the red carpet, arriving in a strapless, pale-blue Dior gown designed by Jonathan Anderson and finished with Chopard jewellery and nude lips ditching her signature red-lip look.
Beyond the celebrity spectacle, the event placed the achievements of cinema at its centre, honouring three figures whose contributions have helped shape the industry. Charlize Theron received the Icon Award, presented by fellow screen legend Sigourney Weaver, in recognition of her impact on international cinema. Filmmaker and composer John Carpenter was presented with the Luminary Award by Robert Rodriguez. While the evening’s third honouree, Colman Domingo, received the Vantage Award, recognising his work in bringing distinctive perspectives and underrepresented stories to the screen. The award was presented by Tom Ford following dinner, after an introduction by filmmaker Judd Apatow.

The funds raised will help sustain exhibitions, film screenings, educational programmes and initiatives designed to make the medium more accessible to younger audiences and local communities in Los Angeles.
