Shakira Thanks Gerard Piqué for Their Breakup

During an Apple Music Interview with Zane Lowe, Shakira has opened up about being a single mom and discussed family life with her two sons – Milan and Sasha – since her split from their father, former Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué, whom she dated for around 11 years until their split in 2022.

The Columbian-Lebanese singer who was considered among the hottest wives of Euro 2016, revealed that being married weighed her down and discouraged her music career adding that now with Gerard out of the picture, she's got an incontrollable urge to work and make music.

Shakira and Gerard announced their separation in June 2022 with a joint statement. Soon after, she moved with her sons from their home in Barcelona, Spain to Miami, US. The “Hips don’t lie” singer, also, opened up during the interview about how she talked about her separation with her kids especially after last year’s rumors of her, reportedly dating F1 champion, Lewis Hamilton. Last friday, Shakira released her 12th studio album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women Don't Cry Anymore), her first album release in seven years.

Sharing her excitement over social media, she shared a photo in which she posed alongside 7x platinum plates framed by Sony Music Latin. Shakira expressed her gratitude in the caption of her Instagram post, which began, "What better release day gift?? 7x platinum!"
