Big Ben Will Fall Silent for 4 Years
London will not be the same again!
21-August-2017
It’s official, Big Ben will no longer produce its bongs sound for a long time. The Westminster clock was silenced this afternoon for renovation purposes; the Elizabeth Tower will be restored for £29m, and the workers won’t be completely safe unless the chimes stop ringing for four whole years, the time for them to finish their renovation work.
However, this isn’t the first time that Big Ben has fallen silent; the world’s tallest four-faced clock tower was silenced back in 2007 for maintenance, but it hasn’t paused for that long of a period for 157 years!
