A new chapter in Lebanon’s wine story begins with the opening of Levain, the country’s first wine bar and boutique dedicated entirely to Lebanese wine. Located in the heart of Monot, Ashrafieh, Levain is more than a bar, it is a living, breathing culture of wine that celebrates Lebanon’s rich viticultural heritage while reimagining it for today’s world.
Taking its name from the French word levain, a reference to both the natural ferment used in bread-making and the symbolic pairing of bread and wine, Levain embodies Levain embodies fermentation, transformation, and shared nourishment. Much like the natural starter that rises slowly and deeply, Levain invites guests to experience wine as it was meant to be: with curiosity, warmth, and joy.
“After nine years of championing Lebanese wine through 209 Lebanese Wine, opening Levain is both a natural next step and a personal dream,” says Selim Yasmine, Founder of Levain. “It is a place where the winemakers I admire, the culture I celebrate, and the guests I cherish all come together. At the heart of Levain’s offering is the Découverte Experience, a signature concept designed to turn each visit into a journey of exploration.
