Some restaurants serve exceptional food; some preserve a legacy. For more than two decades, Mayrig has embodied the enduring power of cuisine to preserve culture, celebrate traditions and bring people together.

Since opening its doors in Beirut in 2003, the award-winning Armenian restaurant founded by Chef Aline Kamakian has evolved into a home for Armenian culinary heritage, transforming generations of family recipes into an experience that celebrates culture, memory and togetherness.

Its name, Mayrig, meaning "little mother" in Armenian, reflects the very essence of the restaurant. It is a tribute to the mothers and grandmothers who safeguarded their recipes, traditions, and values, passing them down from one generation to the next and ensuring that the flavors of their homeland would continue to live on. Today, these treasured recipes remain at the heart of Mayrig’s menu, honoring the authenticity of Armenian cuisine while presenting it with a refined contemporary touch.

Rooted in a culinary tradition shaped by the Silk Road and enriched by Mediterranean influences, every dish is prepared with the same care, generosity, and attention to detail that have long defined Armenian hospitality. Rather than reinventing classic recipes, Mayrig celebrates their origins, allowing their history and authenticity to shine through the use of quality ingredients and a deep respect for time-honored techniques.

But what began in Beirut has since grown into a globally recognized name, bringing authentic Armenian cuisine to Riyadh, Yerevan, Cairo, Geneva, and the Maldives. Despite this international expansion, Mayrig didn’t adapt its identity to suit each destination, instead, it remaed deeply connected to its roots with all the locations preserving the the very same values that shaped the original restaurant: genuine hospitality, exceptional quality and a commitment to Armenian culinary traditions.

Beyond the cuisine, every Mayrig space is designed to capture the warmth and familiarity of an Armenian family home. Handcrafted details, vintage family photographs, natural materials, and thoughtfully curated interiors create an atmosphere that feels both intimate and timeless. Each element tells a story, reflecting a culture where hospitality is at the heart of every gathering.

For more than twenty years, Mayrig has continued to protect a culinary legacy while allowing it to evolve for a new generation. At its core, the restaurant is guided by Aline Kamakian’s belief that food is one of the most powerful expressions of identity and human connection. Every meal is an invitation to gather, celebrate, and share stories around the table, just as generations of Armenian families have done before.
