Iraqi kleija

Ingredients

The dough

 and a half cup of flour

Pinch of salt

1/4   teaspoon of cumin

1/2   cup of warm milk

1/2   teaspoon of sugar

1/2   teaspoon instant yeast

6   tablespoons of oil

 

The filling

1   cup dried dates (pitted)

1/2  teaspoon cardamom

1/2  teaspoon of oil

3   tablespoons of water

 

How to prepare

Combine the flour, salt and cumin. Set aside.

In another bowl, mix sugar, yeast and warm milk and set aside for 5 minutes.

Add oil and mix well by hand. Place the dough in a covered bowl aside for about thirty minutes.

At this time, add the ingredients for the filling in the electric mixer until the mixture becomes homogeneous.

Spread the dough on a rectangular plastic sheet. Brush with the date filling, then wrap it with the help of plastic paper.

Cut into slices and transfer to a tray covered with baking paper, then place in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.

It can be enjoyed hot or cold.
