For Amal Clooney, flowers are no longer exclusive for spring. Recently, the Clooney couple took a getaway to Saint-Tropez, and were photographed at Jardin Tropezina, the Mediterranean restaurant run by star chef Jean-François Piège. To start the summer off right, the 46-year-old lawyer has set her sights on a piece of clothing with a strong "Barbie" connotation: a fluid, vibrant minidress, adorned with ruffles on the neckline, straps and wais and printed yellow, orange and pink flowers.


The dress of an era

This piece is signed by the Donatella Versace and originally comes from the spring/summer 2004 collection of the Italian luxury house. A wardrobe called “Diva Alert” which highlighted the signature eccentricity of the 2000s built around light dresses, frills and all shades of pink. The show also gave pride of place to the wardrobe of the perfect Barbie doll, notably through the omnipresence of fuchsia, patterns, rhinestones and other micro shorts.
This dress with bold colors and generous prints only recalls the thunderous return of the 2000s on the fashion scene since the pandemic and, more generally, that of vintage designer pieces. We remember Zendaya's appearance at the last Met Gala in a Givenchy couture dress from the spring-summer 1996 collection, or that of Bella Hadid at the Cannes Film Festival, in a long black Versace dress, from the spring-summer haute couture collection of summer 2001.
