Vin Diesel Wheels Michael Caine onto Red Carpet at Red Sea Film Festival

The fifth edition of Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Film Festival opened in Jeddah on Thursday with a glamorous red carpet and the Middle East premiere of Giant, a biopic of British-Yemeni boxing champion “Prince” Naseem Hamed. The film, produced by Rowan Athale and Sylvester Stallone, stars Amir El-Masry as Hamed and Pierce Brosnan as his trainer.

The festival attracted Hollywood A-list stars including Dakota Johnson, Uma Thurman, Ana de Armas, Queen Latifah, Nina Dobrev, Kirsten Dunst, Jessica Alba, and jury members Riz Ahmed, Naomie Harris, Nadine Labaki, Olga Kurylenko, and jury president Sean Baker.

But the highlight of the evening was Vin Diesel wheeling 92-year-old Michael Caine onto the red carpet to receive a Special Recognition award.

Diesel praised Caine’s legendary career, calling him “one of the best actors who’s ever lived”. Caine, joined by his three grandchildren, reflected on his decades-long career, his family, and the honor of being recognized in Saudi Arabia. “I’ve had all the luck I can get, and one of the luckiest things is tonight,” he said, visibly moved.

The Red Sea Film Festival runs from December 4 to 13, 2025, with stars and filmmakers continuing to gather in Jeddah for screenings, discussions, and celebrations of cinema.
