From cakes to invitations, brown in all its shades is set to bring warm chocolate-inspired notes to weddings.

Pinterest has just unveiled the top wedding trends for 2025. And when it comes to color palettes, couples seem ready to explore new tones. After pastels, it’s now time for coffee and chocolate hues to take center stage. Hardly surprising when you consider that the Pantone Color of the Year is “Mocha Mousse,” described as “a warm, rich brown shade that fulfills our desire for comfort by subtly evoking cocoa, chocolate, and coffee.”

Behind this shade lies a search for softness and comfort, as explained by Pantone director Laurie Pressman: “For our 2025 Color of the Year, we are turning to a soft brown hue whose inherent richness, and comforting sensory warmth, extend further into our desire for comfort and the simple pleasures we can offer and share with others.”

In the latest wedding trends, this is the shade future brides and grooms seem to be gravitating toward. Pinterest, one of the most widely used platforms for wedding planning, with more than 3.8 billion wedding-related searches and over 13.4 billion wedding “Pins” saved globally within a year, has reported a significant rise in searches related to this color palette. The platform recorded a 551% increase in searches for “Mocha wedding theme,” more than 450% growth for chocolate-brown weddings, and a 438% rise in the term “brown bridesmaid dress.”

Everything is embracing the trend, invitations, flowers and even the groom’s suit. And of course, the cake is no exception — whether it’s a traditional mocha cake or more creative dessert options like tiramisu towers, chocolate truffles, or even canelés. The idea is to move away from the usual wedding classics.

Dress codes, décor, and even menus are all embracing the “Mocha Mousse” trend, with the goal of “creating an atmosphere that feels both warm and elegant, evoking conviviality and refinement,” according to Pinterest. A fresh source of inspiration for those preparing to say “I do.”
