Anne Hathaway’s Pregnancy Style: Her Chic Baby Bump Look in Los Angeles

Anne Hathaway does not seem willing to let pregnancy take over her wardrobe. While she is expecting her third child, the 43-year-old actress continues to appear in silhouettes that extend her usual style, without giving in to conventional outfits specifically designed for maternity.

At the premiere of The End of Oak Street in Los Angeles, she appeared in a custom-made silk top by Prabal Gurung and jeans, revealing the curve of her belly and her protruding belly button, typical of pregnancy. A seemingly simple choice that nevertheless says a great deal about the way contemporary fashion now approaches the bodies of pregnant women.

The actress, who plays Penelope in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, had already made an impression with an impressive fashion marathon.

The actress thus embraces the evolution of maternity clothing, which, rather than offering a separate wardrobe, now tends to provide pieces that naturally blend into the personal style of the women wearing them.

Pregnant Stars

This approach to motherhood is not new, however. Rihanna has made it one of the most spectacular expressions of recent years, multiplying during her pregnancies looks that openly revealed her belly. Transparency, crop tops and second-skin fabrics are now widespread among many women during this particular period.

Far from appealing to everyone, this approach to dressing also elicits more reserved reactions, with some seeing it less as a liberation from traditional codes and more as a new pressure to display one’s body.
