Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele always goes above and beyond when it comes to fashion shows. There are the clothes of course, his style has become so identifiable by mixing the fashions, the eras, the inspirations out of the Gucci archives and his extremely rich personal references. Then come the philosophical concept behind every show that accompanies his reflection on the garment and his environment.
This season, the designer invokes Michel Foucault and biopolitics, "a power that only legitimizes certain existences, confining the others in a regime of constraint and / or invisibility." A power that imposes behaviors and paths. " This idea of arbitrarily standardized behavior was embodied by the first dozens of white looks in this men's and women's collection, worn by static models, who walked on a treadmill in a clean, clinical room like a laboratory. The clothes were both utilitarian and restrictive: uniforms, straps, coveralls, lab coats and straitjackets symbolized the dictatorship of dress.”
