Christian Dior Spring 2021 Collection at Paris Fashion Week
A trip back in time to the 60’s

Maria Grazzia Chiuri, creative director at the iconic Christian Dior fashion house, presented on the first day of Paris Fashion week (28th of September) Dior’s SS21 ready-to-wear collection to a distanced audience in a tent in the Jardin des Tuileries.
The inspiration
Chiuri who never failed to combine art and feminism in Dior’s collection, namechecked the 60’s feminist artist Lucia Marcucci as a reference, and that’s where all the vibrant collages came from.
An online screening happened before the show. A set of Marucci’s retro collages made a statement on the cathedral windows, and we couldn’t but have chills while listening to the music. Sound designer Michel Gaubert enlisted a group called Roseblood to perform Sangu di Rose, a 19th-century piece in which women sing about their newfound lack of limitation after their husbands have all been sent to prison. The vibe was extraordinary.
The designs
Maria Grazzia Chiuri brought memories and experiences together with the new lifestyle we are living. Although Dior is a couture house, Chiuri presented garments that will be our top picks at home and that will navigate with us everywhere in the world.
While jackets turned into dressing gowns and shirts elongated into tunics, relaxed robes, leather & suede vests and samurai-style jackets were all free, chic and comfortable garments. Embroidered collars and cuffs, as well as pop prints and flowy dresses took us on a cultural, historical yet really comfy trip.
