How to style your hair this winter while wearing a face mask?

Paris Fashion Week took place this week not only amid strict safety and health measures due to the coronavirus, but also on some wet days. And here’s a question on everyone’s minds: which is the best way to style your hair while you’re obliged to wear a mask, and when the weather is rainy and windy? The answer is in street style looks.

Runways are different this season with social distancing and protective masks… Health restrictions were monitored by the ready-to-wear brands and their visitors during Paris Fashion Week. In addition to that, it was rainy and windy with no sun, something photographers don’t like. Well, what did streetstylers wear then?

It is impossible for those who are used to street styling to give up on this essential ritual. However, to stand out, style is the most important with a mask that matches your outfit. But hairdressing is also as important.

The importance of accessories

And that’s exactly when accessories are not just an addition to the look, now they’re necessary. We saw berets, caps and other bobs and hats on almost all heads. The scarf, star of the Dior Fall-Winter 2020-2021 show, is also seen worn as a headscarf, but also in a turban or slipped under a beret.

Another hair detail that can make the difference? The barrettes. This season again, they are stacked. Why? They will keep your hair out of your face and your eyes. However this cute and stylish look is incompatible with the face mask and the best alternative would be the ties, whether gold or tone on tone. If the barrettes do not appeal to you, a headband will be just as effective.

Bun, ponytail or braid?

All three of them! The idea is to keep your hair in place, especially when you’re not a hair accessories girl. The low bun is favored by celebs like Tina Kunakey or Rita Ora, but a bun at the top of the head is also chic. As for the ponytail, it is worn low and smooth, while the braid is higher. The secret to awakening these classics? Stacked or oversized earrings.
