This is Why You Should Throw Away Your Flip Flops
It’s so disgusting!
31-May-2017
Let’s face it. We all have a thing for flip flops. Even though they’re not that much of a fashion statement, we do love their comfy aspect. But did you know that this footwear is actually bad for you in all sorts of ways?
Disgusting infections
When that single strap rubs up against your skin with every step you take, it’s just a matter of time before those blisters appear. Wearing flip flops outdoors could expose your feet to Staphylococcus, a bacterium that irritates the skin which can, in the worst case, lead to amputation in case you have an open wound or have a weak immune system. You could also get fungal infections such as athlete's foot, which is highly contagious.
Watch your step!
Flip-flops make you extra clumsy, so you better watch your step if you decide to opt for those. Since they’re loose and don’t exactly stay still, it’s likely that they’ll fly off as you’re walking in a crowd.
Your feet won’t look so good on the long term
Ever heard of hammer toes? With time, the knuckles of your toes could bend, so much that it would become hard for you to wear any kind of shoes. If this condition worsens, the only solution would be surgery.
You’ll constantly feel pain
Especially those who have flat feet. They need to wear tighter shoes to give them an arch. The arch is essential for your knees, hips, and back. Flip-flops don’t have an arch, which could later on cause pain all over your joints.
Even the material can be bad for you
Did you know that many people are allergic to latex? Unfortunately, the plastic straps of your flip-flops may be made of this material. Another material called BPA can even cause cancer.
