Flabelus: Reinventing the Espadrille for Modern Style

In a fashion world driven by chasing the trends, Flabelus stands out for choosing a different path, one that honors heritage while embracing the future. Born in Spain during the global lockdown of 2020, the brand launched with a bold and refreshing mission of reimagining the normal espadrille into a stylish, year-round staple that merges tradition with modern sophistication.
Far from being just another footwear label, Flabelus is a whimsical universe of color, character, and craftsmanship. Each pair of shoes tells a story rooted in Spanish culture, crafted with care, and designed to evolve with its wearer and their identity.
Espadrilles have long held a special place in Spain’s sartorial history. Traditionally handmade with canvas uppers and jute soles, they were worn for centuries in the Pyrenees and eventually gained popularity as casual summer footwear. Flabelus honors that legacy while giving it a contemporary twist, transforming the espadrille into a versatile piece that can carry you from laid-back days to elegant nights out. The brand’s designs blend timeless silhouettes with bold color palettes and refined details, offering effortless style that transcends seasons and times.

What sets Flabelus apart is its unique ability to fuse playful imagination with understated luxury. Inspired by the concept of a “magical world full of characters,” each shoe becomes part of a larger narrative, an expression of individuality and creativity. From everyday essentials to elevated evening styles, these espadrilles are crafted to bring comfort, confidence and charm to every step.
At the heart of this vision is founder and CEO Beatriz de los Mozos. A former lawyer and global sales executive, Beatriz launched Flabelus as a side project during the early months of the pandemic. But what began quietly soon blossomed into a full-fledged business that inspired her to leave her corporate career and fully dedicate herself to building the brand and the team.
Beatriz’s entrepreneurial spirit is reflected in her personal motto: "The sky is not the limit." With that mindset, she has taken Flabelus from a lockdown idea to a global name. Today, the brand boasts physical stores in fashion capitals like Madrid, London, and Paris, with further international expansion planned for 2025. The gorgeous espadrilles are also available in Lebanon at Depeche Mode Beirut.
All Flabelus shoes are handcrafted in Spain using locally sourced, eco-friendly materials. By preserving Spanish shoemaking techniques and minimizing environmental impact, Flabelus offers conscious fashion without compromising on quality or style.
