The Aquatic series traces its origins to that moment of quiet revelation beneath the sea. Since then, the ocean and its boundless biodiversity have become a continual source of inspiration for Cindy Chao’s artistic universe. The journey began with the 2012 Black Label Masterpiece XV “Odyssey Earrings,” rendered in sapphires and emeralds, marked the beginning of a dive into the depths, an homage to the ocean’s majesty and mystery.

Chao reimagines the marine world through sculptural forms. With the motifs of corals, shells, sea stars, and anemones, each jewel echoes the uniqueness of ocean life in form and colour.

To evoke the shimmering depths, she carefully selects coloured gemstones in an array of cuts that capture and reflect light with ethereal brilliance. From every angle, light and colour interplay across each surface, bringing these underwater visions to luminous, sculptural life.

To capture the gentle glimmer of sunlight on ocean waves, rose-cut diamonds and gemstones are frequently featured throughout the Aquatic creations. Each rose-cut diamond and gemstone used in the creations is meticulously sourced and selected by a team of expert gemmologists.
