No Mascara? No Problem Benefit Cosmetics Guide to the Bare-Lash Trend

It all started on the red carpet. At the New York premiere of The Odyssey in July, Zendaya stepped out with luminous, sun-kissed skin, softly flushed cheeks and glossy lips, while her lashes were left completely bare. Within days, the beauty world had given the look a name: no-mascara summer.
The trend may sound like an invitation to do less, but its appeal lies in doing more elsewhere. The focus shifts from dramatic lashes to glowing skin, defined brows and a fresh flush of colour, creating a beauty look that feels effortless, natural and particularly suited to the warmer months.

Decoding the No-Mascara Look
Born from the clean-girl beauty aesthetic, the no-mascara look centres on radiant, even skin, fluffy brows, naturally flushed cheeks and softly glossy lips. By leaving the eyes almost bare, the rest of the face takes centre stage, resulting in a fresh and uncomplicated finish.
How to Master the Look
The key is to create dimension without making the complexion appear heavily made up. Start with The POREfessional Pore Minimizing Primer, followed by The POREfessional Concealer, applied only where necessary. The goal is to blur imperfections rather than cover the skin completely.
With the eyes stripped back, brows become an important part of the look. Shape and define them with Mighty Fine Brows, then set them with 24-HR Brow Setter for a fuller, laminated effect.
Next comes the all-important flush. Apply Juice Stick Dewy Blush to the apples of the cheeks and blend upwards with your fingertips. Its hydrating gel-cream texture creates a juicy, dewy finish designed to withstand heat and humidity. Add Benetint to the lips for a subtle wash of colour, then lightly sweep Hoola across the areas where the sun would naturally hit the face.
For a final touch, dab Cookie onto the cheekbones and inner corners of the eyes. The subtle highlight keeps the eye area looking bright and fresh without compromising the barely-there effect.
Not Ready to Give Up Mascara?
For those who cannot quite imagine leaving the house without mascara, there are ways to recreate the spirit of the trend while still defining the lashes.
One option is to swap classic black for BADgal Bounce Volumizing Mascara in Pump’d Up Brown. A single coat separates and lifts the lashes, while the softer brown shade creates a more natural-looking effect.
Alternatively, apply one light coat of BADgal BANG! to the upper lashes only, working from root to tip. Its lightweight formula provides lift and definition without making the lashes appear overly coated.
Another trick is to leave the lower lashes completely bare. This keeps the eye looking open and awake while maintaining the illusion of a no-mascara finish.
Finally, think separation rather than layers. Before the formula sets, run the comb side of BADgal Bounce through the lashes once more. The more separated the lashes appear, the more naturally defined they will look.
