After the death of Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel pulled up its first show. The creative director who died of Pancreatic cancer in Paris at the age of 85 was behind the collection for the storied Chanel show which took place at the Grand Palais. Indeed, as Spécial Madame Figaro stated before, Virginie Viard took the place since she was Karl’s left hand. The decision comes “so that the legacy of Gabrielle Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld can live on,” read Chanel’s statement.
During the show, every single guest received a postcard with a sketch of the designer, along his signature platinum hairstyles matched with the black sunglasses and suit. Next to him was Coco Chanel who was also spotted wearing a hat and a tweed suit. The illustrations appeared alongside the words “The beat goes on”.
