Dior chose the beautiful city of Marrakesh for their latest Cruise show. An open air runway at the glorious El Badi Palace with magical campfires made the ideal feel for the French house’s first-historically speaking full-scale runway show in Morocco.Envisioned by the creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, the runway displayed Dior's Resort 2020 collection which featured beaded dresses, bohemian dresses and stylish jumpsuits. Directly after dusk, models catwalked to the beats of Jajouka artists, alongside British electronic band The Orb. Through the show, Dior additionally paid respect to the late Yves Saint Laurent, the head of Christian Dior in late 1950s and 1960 who was inspired by North Africa all through his career.Among the 800 visitors were famous people, influencers, VIPs and editors of the fashion business who flew in from over the globe for the event. Showing up at the ritzy show were on-screen characters Jessica Alba, Shailene Woodley, Lupita Nyong'o and Diana Ross just as sisters from the American pop-musical band Haim.
With inclusivity, globalism, and trade of societies at the core of the occasion, Dior's mark themes Toile de Jouy and 'tarot cards' reinterpreted as African wax prints took the middle stage at the show. The wax designs were structured by Uniwax, an Ivory Coast-based studio which is one of the last few to deliver the customary texture with high quality methods.
