Ramadan is around the corner, and few days are left for us before fasting, which is not only a way to get closer to God but to detox our body and stay away from bad habits. However, it is not healthy to jump into fasting immediately, without preparing your system to fasting one week or at least 2-3 days before Ramadan. What are you waiting for? let’s start now!
Limit your diet intake
In order for your body to be ready for Ramadan’s fasting, you have to let your body get use to it. This means that start limiting your food intake gradually, 1 week or 2-3 days before Ramadan, instead of shocking your body instantly by the absence of food and drink, for up to 16 hours. It is recommended to eat a lot of vegetables and fruits, as it cleanses the body and prepare it for fasting.
Drink fluids
Your body needs a lot of fluids, to help you stay hydrated as much as possible during fasting. This needs to be taken into consideration days before Ramadan, as you should drink a lot of fluids such as water or juices of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Reduce sugary and salty foods
Before fasting, stop eating sugary and salty foods, this includes soft drinks or any food rich in fat and sodium, because it will make you feel thirsty constantly, and it will make you gain weight.
Rest your body
Your sleep quality defines how well you do on the fast and how well you recover afterwards. So before and during fasting, make sure you get enough rest and a good night's sleep.
As for those who suffer from health problems such as diabetes, anemia, it is preferable to consult a doctor to get a healthy plan for fasting and to ensure one’s safety.
