From heat to sun exposure, air or water pollution, your skin is exposed to different kinds of aggressions, which makes us constantly seeking skin protection, rejuvenation and ways to maintain its healthy glow.

There are different techniques and tools that help you having a healthy skin, working hand in hand with the right skincare routine for your skin type, such as dermaroller or jade roller. However, today we will introduce you to another technique that costs 0 cents but worth a million; Skin icing.

If you are using ice cube for your drinks this summer, then you are definitely missing a lot! Here’s why.

What is skin icing?

As the name says, it is simply a technique to apply ice cubes on your skin, as it will be a great solution for different skin problems thanks to its cooling benefits. If done correctly at regular intervals, you will optimize the positive effects.

Skin icing benefits

It is a natural, extremely easy and effective skincare tool that is available in your freezer right now and you are missing its benefits. Here are some of skin-icing benefits that you will be visible just in a few weeks of starting it.

Gives your skin a natural glow

Thanks to its cooling element, when applied on the skin, the body sends an increased flow of warm blood into the area, improving blood circulation. This flow of warm blood helps clearing the toxins as well as giving your skin a natural healthy glow. You will feel as if your skin has been rejuvenated, and tiredness visibly reduced.

Soothes sunburns

If you were exposed for long hours to the sun without any protection, whether on the beach or anywhere else, your might have sunburns by the end of the day. However, if you’re looking for a way to heal the burn as fast as possible, try icing the burned area.

Reduces acne

For every woman who struggles a lot in reducing excessive oil production in the skin, ice cubes will be your life saver. During icing, the skin pores are minimized, thus, excessive oil production is stopped.

This reduces the sticky feeling on the skin and it doesn’t appear oily, especially during summer! Skin icing also helps reduce acne, blackheads, and prevents blemishing of the skin.

Eliminate puffiness around the eyes

To eliminate puffiness under the eyes, wrap an ice cube in a soft cloth and dab it around the eyes moving from the inner eye corners up towards the eyebrow in a circular motion.

Best makeup primer

The cool effect of the ice cube will tighten and shrink your pores; therefore, your skin will feel smoother. It works as pore primer because it clears open pores and will make your foundation and complexion looking perfect after applying makeup. Ice your face before applying a primer then put on your makeup.

Reduces signs of aging

Although facials are recommended to soothe and rejuvenate your skin, however, it is not an option you can do every day. When you need to feel your skin’s tight and give it an instant glow, try icing your face as it would clear your skin and make it look younger after a couple of weeks.

How to ice your skin?

Read the following instructions:

  • Take 4 or 5 ice cubes from the ice trays and place them in a soft cotton cloth (or a soft handkerchief)
  • Note that it is not recommended to use ice directly on the skin, as it might harm the capillaries right under the skin.
  • Roll the ends, and use the covered ice cubes to massage your face or body gently.
  • Make sure you clean your face before icing.
  • In circular motions apply the ice cubes on the face for a minute or two.
  • You can use it on your forehead, cheeks, jaw line, nose, chin, and around the lips.
  • Do not apply ice over the same region for more than 15 minutes at one time.
