The straight bob is making its comeback right from the nineties

The square cut or the bob is returning with a nineties touch: shiny, smooth hair and a very graphic rendering. Keep scrolling and get inspired.

The bob stands out as the timeless haircut, which survives and adapts to all fashion trends, all hair types and is suitable for all body types. In short, the cut that appeals the most to women, especially because it embodies the perfect alternative for those who want to cut their hair without losing too much length. Very fashionable in the last fee seasons, it has lent itself to the many desires of hairdressers and trends: we have seen it rounded in a bob effect, shaggy in a game of deconstruction and especially wavy for a light and airy finish.

But this winter, it seems set to return to a much more graphic spirit. On the runways of the fall-winter 2020-2021 fashion shows, we were indeed able to note a big comeback of the straight bob.

The allure is inherited directly from the 1990s: who has forgotten the Victoria Beckham signature Spice Girls haircut? The designer just recalled it to our fond memories a few days ago to wish Melanie C. a happy birthday.

Which details make all the difference? A shiny hair to perfection and a perfect straightening. “We approach it in a much fuller way, with very little gradient. Ditto for the volume at the tips which are not tapered. We are really in the purity of the square side” says Claudia Zocco, hair expert at Dessange. "But this net effect still implies a subtle destructuring of the lengths: the tips are a little stylized to bring movement and lightness for a contemporary side".

An alternative to its wavy counterpart which is not too rigid. To vary the pleasures, we can indeed have fun by going from the parting in the middle to the one on the side, as seen at the Loewe fall-winter 2020-2021 show. Or accessorize it with bangs (seen at Monse or Jonathan Simkhai).

On the maintenance side, we reconnect with the straightener which is no longer used for the perfect waves but returns to its original use: straightening. And for shine, of course, we focus on appropriate care and in particular serums with reflective particles as a finish to illuminate the fiber. A way to wake up the glow of your hair.
