Style Your Modest Dress With An Edgy Twist
Look of the day

Modest dresses don’t have to be boring, they are elegant, effortlessly chic and can be styled in many ways. You can take your long modest dress from day to evening, all you have to do is update the shoes and the accessories accordingly. Spotted on the Spring/Summer 2021 runways of Cecilie Bahnsen, Michael Kors, and Longchamp to name only a few, as well as on celebrities such as Olivia Palermo and Kate Middleton, and during the latest fashion weeks as street style looks, the modest dress is one of our wardrobe’s easiest staples to wear and style.
For today’s look, I wanted to show you how you can style the sensual and sexy silk satin dress into a modest yet edgy look, with a touch of grunge. Because who said you can’t add a slip dress to your modest wardrobe? The inspiration came from one of my favorite Copenhagen Fashion Week street style looks and I must say that I have a weak spot for Scandinavian fashion style: it’s the perfect mix of comfort, minimalism, casual vibes, as well as stylish and elegant details. Back to our look of the day; I chose a floral silk satin slip dress from Australian-based designer Lee Mathews, and I teamed it with a polka-dot satin pussy-bow blouse with voluminous sleeves from Colombian designer Johanna Ortiz. I went for sleek accessories to make an even bigger fashion statement, since we really need to start having fun again with our daily outfits after so many months of feeling down. I teamed the look with aviator sunglasses in a neutral shade, bold leather boots, and Dior Saddle Bag in leopard print Mizza motif, in homage to Mizza Bricard, Monsieur Dior’s muse of muses. So now that you have a modest look with an irresistibly modern elegance twist, keep scrolling to shop my selection.
