The Oriental Pain Perdu

Ingredients

8 slices of “pain de mi” bread, trimmed off

2 eggs

1 teaspoon of vanilla

2 tablespoons of sugar

Pinch of salt

4/3 cup of milk

 

The filling

150 g cream cheese

2 tablespoons butter, at room temperature

1/2 cup shelled pistachios

3 tablespoons of fine sugar

 

How to prepare

To prepare the filling, beat the butter and cream cheese well, then add the pistachios and fine sugar and continue whisking until you get a smooth and homogeneous mixture.

In another bowl, beat eggs, vanilla, sugar, salt and milk.

Dip the slices of bread with the mixture of milk and eggs, then place them in the greased skillet.

Grease a piece of bread with the pistachio mixture, then place another piece of bread on it.

Serve with syrup.
