From Gigi Hadid to Nicole Richie, supermodel Heidi Klum, Kim Kardashian West, and Katie Holmes, celebs can’t seem to get enough of kimonos. I personally started a collection of this lightweight and versatile staple, as I am totally in love with it and plan to spend my summer wearing it. Why? Kimonos are not only comfy, they are also very easy to wear, whether in a day look or an evening one, and they give some stylish and exotic vibes to any look. Spotted on the runway of Dior, the relaxed kimono was one of the most desirable pieces of the French house’s Spring/Summer 2021 show. If you’re wondering how to wear the kimono this summer, here are my favorite styles: you can wear it on its own as a dress (perfect for an evening look) and pair it with a large belt and heels, or as a cover up at the beach, you can also team it with a white t-shirt and jeans in a boho-casual look, or prove that comfortwear can work in a more formal wardrobe by teaming the kimono with a pencil dress and heels.

For today’s look, the inspiration came from one of Gigi Hadid’s off-duty look; the model who welcomed with her partner Zayn Malik her daughter Khai in September, is not only rocking the kimono, she is also proving that this robe-like garment is definitely in fashion. Her style in this look is both kick-back-and-relax and chic; she paired a Versace Baroque print kimono, which she left untied, with an all-black outfit, and we are obsessed! To copy her look, I chose for you a reversible Alice+Olivia baroque kimono, and I teamed it with an Alaïa crop top, straight-leg cropped black pants from Chloé, the coveted JW Anderson Chain loafer mules, and the latest DiorSignature S1U sunglasses, with their modern and elegant square-shaped design.
