Phoebe Philo, former creative director at Celine announced her comeback after three years of split from the fashion industry, with a namesake label of her own.
The British designer who was probably the 21-century’s fashion’s most powerful female designer is ensuring that her own clothing and accessories brand will be make a comeback on her own terms as LVMH is expected to serve the new label as a minority stakeholder.
So it’s official! The designer who redefined what luxury looked like and who changed the way millions of women dress, is back in business and on her own terms. The British fashion designer, who was the creative director of the French fashion houses Chloé (2001–06) and Céline (2008–17) stepped down in 2017 while she was at the top of her game to give priority to her family life in London.

Her most-coveted designs (the wide-leg trousers, the slip dresses, the high-fashion trainers, the it-bags….) and iconic catwalk moments never ceased to haunt her legions of fans who are still chasing the designer's greatest hits.

“Being in my studio and making once again has been both exciting and incredibly fulfilling. To be independent, to govern and experiment on my own terms is hugely significant to me” said the 48-year-old designer in a short announcement shared with The Business of Fashion.

Not so much has been said about the collection, but minor hints were given. The brand is sure to be at a great quality and design level, but the question remains: Is Philo going to create womenswear or is it going to be a gender-neutral label?
Let’s wait and see.
