Enter The Joyful World of Chanel Spring/Summer 2022 Collection

Say Hello to happiness and joy! This October 5, in the heart of the Grand Palais Éphémère, the Chanel show had the emotions of the traditional vibrant fashion shows of Karl Lagerfeld in the 1990s, when supermodels like Claudia Schiffer, Carla Bruni and Naomi Campbell walked the runway with confidence in iconic looks.

 

 

 

The ambiance

The model Vivienne Rohner taking a photo: this is the black and white portrait that appears on the invitation and in the decor for the CHANEL Spring-Summer 2022 Ready-to-Wear show: “Because fashion is about clothes, models and photographers,” confides Virginie Viard. “Karl Lagerfeld used to photograph the CHANEL campaigns himself. Today, I call upon photographers. I love the way that they see CHANEL. It supports and inspires me.” The Creative Director of the iconic French house embraces the heritage of Gabrielle Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld while infusing the nineties vibe we crave. So bye-bye sadness and Hello happiness in the 2022.

 

 

 

The looks

Virginie Viard wanted to recapture the emotion of the ‘80s and ‘80s shows, and by recreating that type of runway at the Grand Palais Éphémère, the atmosphere of this human-sized space made her yearn for “a lot of very simple bathing suits in gold or white with black trimmings. Short dresses in pink or mauve tweed, fishnet skirts, jackets embellished with multicolor crochet and denim suits. There are also a lot of prints: big, colourful butterfly wings on black chiffon.” The Creative Director of Chanel has also reimagined the tweed suit, spotted in bright colors, the cardigan suit which she turned into a ‘6os-inspired sequined dress.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The accessories

We loved the big shopper as well as the soft quilted bag embellished with a large chain. The Chanel N ° 5 powder compacts and perfume bottles became jewelry and we are already coveting those collector’s necklaces. When it came to shoes, the flared heels and the buckles of the Mary-Janes and sandals “remind us of pirate shoes,” Virginie Viard says with amusement. “I always like to have something romantic. A touch of mystery.”
