Luxury French Fashion and Beauty house Chanel embodies the strong and empowered woman in its newest campaign for the most famous fragrance in the world, N°5, and features it in a breathtaking, romantic and fierce short film.
In the new chapter of the iconic fragrance’s journey, Thomas du Pré de Saint Maur, Chanel’s Head of Global Creative Resources Fragrance and Beauty, chose French actress, singer and song writer Marion Cotillard as the new brand ambassador, and Johan Renck as the film director.

Released in the early 1920’s, Chanel N°5 was loved by Hollywood’s greatest including Marilyn Monroe, Nicole Kidman and Catherine Deneuve, the popularity of the floral fragrance is irreplaceable. And Marion Cotillard is continuing the lineage of feminine icons who have been the face of this olfactory revolution.
“Returning to a French actress meant returning to a subconscious image of French femininity dear to the spirit of the House.” Says Thomas du Pré de Saint Maur.
The Oscar winning actress, will be the face of a fragrance for the first time.
“I felt an instant connection with N°5 which, more than a fragrance, is a work of art. Something I always dreamed of” says Marion Cotillard.
The magical Campaign for the N°5 Legend
On a full-moon snowy night in Paris, a strong and seductive woman is mysteriously draped in black cape as she walks on a Parisian bridge when suddenly she’s on the moon facing a man who is waiting for her. The two lovers begin an intoxicating dance full of seduction and mischief, where their bodies, electrified by this lunar dance floor, abandon themselves to one another, and then they fly together and return to their starting point, the bridge, and the dream comes true. The song Team by Lorde, recorded by Flavien Berger and covered by Marion Cotillard, is an ode to modern love, where two beings speak as equals.

This new campaign pays tribute to the history of N°5, all while making the unique and radical choice to consider beauty as a bet of joy and equality. However, this time N°5 is over the moon, creating a character of its own, thanks to the Swedish versatile director, well-known for his music videos.
