Our Favorite Face Masks Fashion Week SS21
Augustin Bougro – Madame Figaro
21-October-2020
This year, fashion weeks were slightly different as some houses went for physical shows, others chose the phygital option, while the rest went only for digital platforms to present their SS21 collections. In addition to that, limitation on the number of guests made shows less crowded, which means less street style photography.
Just as designers and houses adjusted themselves to new ways of presenting their collections, street style fashion was also quick to adapt to the coronavirus pandemic which imposed social distancing and mandatory masks. In Milan, London, New York, and Copenhagen, influencers and stylists matched their masks with their style creatively.

It was obvious, they preferred wearing personalized masks rather than the standard surgical version. However, some of them still chose to pair their surgical mask with their blazer jacket, a t-shirt and a belt bag. Otherwise, colorful or printed masks were associated sometimes with a full denim look, a mid-season belted coat or a dress, when the weather was a bit sunny. Other influencers favored masks that hold a message, like the one that says “More Joy” signed Christopher Kane, chosen by the German stylist Veronika Heilbrunner.
The creative idea of the scarf that served as a mask was also there, but even though the idea is attractive, it is not as effective.
