Valentino Fall 2021 Haute Couture Show Is Pure Joy

Valentino Des ateliers, Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Haute Couture Fall 2021 collection was definitely nothing less than its usual spectacular designs.

The creative director of the Italian Luxury house chose to pay homage to Venice in this collection, which he presented at Gaggiandre at the Arsenale in Venice. The choice of the location was not a pure coincidence, as the Arsenale hosts the International Art and Architecture Exhibitions and the International Dance, Music and Theatre Festivals of La Biennale di Venezia — which Valentino is sponsoring.

No matter when or where, whenever we hear Valentino, we immediately think volume. Piccioli created voluminous designs iconic for the house and he did it the perfectly: exaggerated in a beautiful way, and that’s exactly what we saw one more time on his runway.

Guests were all asked to wear white, and the gold lights hit the setup right.

With every model walking, the Italian designer and creator clearly took things to another level, because that’s all what Haute Couture is about, no? And to do that, he worked with several contemporary artists in order to let art and fashion mingle creating unified yet exploratory looks. Joel S. Allen, Anastasia Bay, BenniBosetto, and more names are on the list of artists who built and nourished Valentino’s and Piccioli’s vision.

In the details of the collection, we saw pop colors(bright yellows, purples, pinks…) styled uniquely à la Valentino, long layered draping, stiff silk capes, sculptural designs, full movement silhouettes, and of course huge feathers everywhere: on the head, on the shoulders…).

Long satin gloves were so romantic that they broke the edginess and daring of the looks. Models were hugged with layers of puffiness, ruffles and feathers, all in favor of the feminine yet “bold” style.

At the end of the show, huge and voluminous neon gowns started popping one after the other and the runway turned into a dreamy red carpet event.
