Uma Thurman and Bruna Marquezine in Tory Burch at the Met Gala

Uma Thurman and Bruna Marquezine attended the 2024 Met Gala in custom looks by Tory Burch. The event celebrated “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” the Costume Institute’s new exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Actress Uma Thurman wore a custom blue silk taffeta gown with hundreds of silk organza butterflies floating above her shoulders and back. Tory was inspired by an extinct butterfly, the American Xerces Blue. Each butterfly was individually hand-cut and hand-painted in Tory’s atelier, then applied to a delicate silk-wrapped wire. The gown was constructed with a double-layer skirt, an exaggerated and a hand-molded corset.

Actress Bruna Marquezine wore a custom gown in pale blush pebbled silk organza with a hand-molded corset and multi-layered hoop skirt on horsehair mesh. Layers of sheer organza highlighted its intricate boning and construction, with an abundance of hand-cut silk flowers scattered at the hem.

Tory Burch wore a custom dress from Sarah Burton’s Spring/Summer 2018 collection for Alexander McQueen. She first wore the dress to her wedding in November 2018. It features hand-embroidered silk wildflowers, a deconstructed corset, and a raw tulle hem.
