Inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, Marni’s SS25 collection took to the runway on the first day of Milan Fashion, embodying the beloved “hero’s journey” narrative. But instead of the story’s characters like Cheshire Cat or Mad Hatter, Marni’s protagonist chases beauty through a carefully crafted evolution of style.
Starting in the ordinary world, the Marni heroine sported tailored shirts, blazers, and chic footwear. Yet, fantasy soon crept in with playful sailor hats and whimsical mermaid skirts, signaling the call to adventure and the pursuit of the sublime.
Artist Dev Hynes, known as Blood Orange, amplified this journey with a live piano soundtrack, setting the tone for a show that blended ‘80s elegance with artistic flair. Models showcased hand-painted floral designs, draped jersey suits adorned with literary pages, and accessories that became increasingly extravagant—from pirate hats to oversized sunglasses.
As models meandered through the showroom, they embodied the search for beauty, showcasing vibrant floral prints and shimmering details. Creative director, Francesco Risso, culminated the show in a breathtaking finale, featuring dramatic plumage and striking makeup, illustrating a journey that celebrates chaos and elegance.
