Jacquemus at Versailles: A Rustic Dream Reimagined

For his latest collection Le Paysan, Simon Porte Jacquemus brought his deeply personal vision to life in the majestic setting of L’Orangerie at the Palace of Versailles. But beneath the grandeur lies a tender story rooted in the South of France, in family, and in the poetry of rural life.
Inspired by his childhood and his great-grandmother’s legacy, Jacquemus crafted a collection that bridges simplicity and sophistication with his signature touch. A tribute to farmers, family albums, and freshly pressed cotton on Sundays, Le Paysan elevates everyday garments into couture fantasies.
Women’s silhouettes unfolded in voluminous poplin jupons, sculptural corseted jackets, and tulle dresses stitched with 700 metres of cord. Vintage linens echoed through embroidered monograms and delicate finishing. For men, Marcel Pagnol’s pastoral heroes come alive in relaxed tailoring, from wide-leg trousers to herringbone linen suits and shearling-trimmed leather.
A color palette of creamy whites, faded pastels, and sugared almond hues brings warmth and whimsy, while accessories playfully nod to the Provencal spirit: raffia bags shaped like rosemary sprigs, vegetable-inspired jewelry, and espadrilles laced with French charm.
In Le Paysan, Jacquemus returns to his roots not with nostalgia, but with reverence. It’s a quiet revolution in fashion, one that begins in the countryside and ends in Versailles, where dreams, craftsmanship, and emotion meet in full bloom.
