Violence against women has increased and intensified during quarantine, according to UN Women’s statistics. Therefore, the Hollywood star of Lebanese origins, Salma Hayek, launched the #StandWithWomen campaign through social media to fight violence against womenstuck at home under coronavirus lockdown measures, urging her millions of social media followers to "stand in solidarity with women."

The Frida movie star posted a video on her Instagram page, saying:

"We retreat into our homes to protect ourselves from the threat of COVID-19, but what if our home was a threat itself?"

She called on to solidarity in the Stand With Women campaign to combat domestic violence during lockdown period and said:"It is so important that we take a stand against gender-based violence. We need to stand insolidarity with women, so we can create a safer healthier home for them, so we can have a safer healthier world. We can really achieve change if our voices come together and scream: no more!"

The #StandWithWomen campaign will be run by fashion brand Gucci's “Chime For Change” initiative founded by Hayek and star Beyoncé in 2013, to help fund organizations fighting domestic violence around the world.
