The reason Meghan Markle quit social media for good

After the couple quit Royal jobs and gave up “highness” titles, fans expected Meghan Markle to have her great comeback into social media. But nothing yet. In fact, The Duchess of Sussex explained exactly why she decided to shut down her Instagram page and her lifestyle blog before marrying Prince Harry.

Rumors said that she was expected to do so, as part of the rules she had to follow. However, Meghan revealed during the Fortune Most Powerful Women Next Gen Summit that her decision was more of a personal one, rather than to follow The Queen’s orders.

Meghan said: "I think that comes with a territory for the job that you have. I've made a personal choice to not have any account.”

“It is so much a part of our daily culture for so many people that it's an addiction like many others. There is something algorithmically that is creating this obsession, and I think it's very unhealthy for a lot of people” She added.

And just like she has urged young women to keep challenging authority last summer, she now has some advice to everyone out there using the platforms: “As you are out there building your brand, as you're out there engaging with your friends online, just be conscious of what you're doing and understand that it is not limited to that one moment”.
